EMANCIPATION

July 3, 1848 was the day enslaved Africans on the island of St. Croix led revolution demanding their freedom. They got it! Every July 3, we in the VI celebrate Emancipation Day. It was wonderful this year! I danced my heart out.....

Firsts...

I had it all planned out--going to the library to meet with the other cohort 7ers on St. Croix. But of course the "cosomos" had other things in mind for me. Surprise! Surprise! UVI was "transitioning" between summer sessions and it was closed. I couldn't go yesterday (Monday) so I went tonight. Wendy and Renise weere there and were verry helpful.

After the Storm

After this past weekend in STT with the professors and the VI Corhort 7 students, I feel a bit better. As a "breaking the ice" exercise, we had to pick adjectives that best described ourselves. I chose one that described how I've been feeling for the past couple of weeks. It was "overwhelmed." And, of course, me the crier, started bawling when it was my turn to speak about why I chose that adjective.

So, I still feel overwhelmed, but I don't feel like "What in the HECK did I do to my self?"

Peace,

Oceana

How Do You Save Yourself?!

I need to Stop and Smell the "Ginger Thomas" but I don't have time!!! I'm trying to dig myself out of this hole, that I put myself into in the first place, but it just seems like the harder I dig, the more dirt falls back into the abyss....

Oceana

A Very good friend of mine did this portrait of me--she's from Philly, but lives here in St. Croix now.

She's one of the people that will keep me sane in my time organized chaos...
